Aww, the perfect holiday lies just ahead. You have your new wardrobe, your new luggage, your travel documents are in order and your anxiously await your departure to the exotic location you’ve always dreamt of. But you may be missing the one thing that will make your holiday one to remember on your feet instead of at hospital.
Have you had your necessary immunizations? Depending on your destination, you have the potential to be exposed to tropical diseases and other nasty foes waiting to attack your holiday and your health, possibly for years to come, a holiday accident is never nice. Although many package holiday companies usually provide information on the necessary vaccines, it is ultimately your responsibility to protect yourself and your family against infectious and potentially fatal diseases as you prepare to travel.
Hepatitis is one of the most common diseases picked up abroad by unsuspecting travellers. Hep A is fairly common, as it is spread by contaminated water as a result of poor hygienic practices in kitchens and from poor sanitation. And although there is a vaccine to prevent contracting the disease, many never get immunized before travelling abroad.
Typhoid accompanies approximately 180 Brits home from abroad each year. Particularly common in India, Pakistan and Nepal, Typhoid is caused by Salmonella typhi or Salmonella paratyphi and is found in food or water contaminated with faeces. A vaccine shot before travel to high risk countries could save your life.
Mosquitoes carry the common tropical disease Malaria, which can be fatal if left untreated. Although Malaria is preventable with a course of medication before, during and after the trip abroad, an average of 1100 UK travelers contract Malaria while on holiday abroad each year. The mosquito also carries Yellow Fever; those travelling to South America or Africa to the jungles are at greatest risk.
Should you contract one of these diseases abroad due to the negligence of the tour package company, you may be entitled to compensation. Negligence would include unsanitary accommodations or travel conditions arranged by the company. However, should you contract a disease due to lack of immunizations, a claim would be unavailable to you.

When you watched motorbiking sports on TV a few years ago you must have thought “that’s great, if only I had one” or “even if I get one I don’t believe i will be able to ever do that”. You surely didn’t think “in a few years, I’ll sell my car and buy a motorbike to commute to work, to compensate for that paycut”. Yet, today, many people are or will soon be thinking just that. UK used car prices have never been lower. People are getting smart. But motorbikes aren’t only a way for you to save up on commuting, or a way to jump over several busses, motorbikes can wake you up from your everyday routine and jumpstart your life!
How? With the enjoyment and happiness they will bring to your driving experience, and the freedom to park and go anywhere. Maybe you forgot what the true meaning of freedom is, maybe you got too involved in your work, anyway, the motorbike will turn your views back onto what really matters, and that is your life, happiness and freedom. It is no coincidence that all those long haired freedom loving guys are riding motorbikes. And there is no reason for you not to join in, although you may choose a style and class of the motorbike better suiting your needs. And also, consider the safety more than those guys. For instance, getting motorbike insurance would be a good idea, to avoid possible headaches of breakdown costs, and damage claims. And always wearing your helmet would also be something that would make your insurance premium smaller.
You will suddenly find yourself commuting faster across the city, and having more time and more nerves to handle your own problems. Maybe you will find the love of your life while you use your newly acquired attention span to see a lonely stopper at the side of the street, and hand them the spare helmet as you pull over alongside them. Maybe the money you save can be used to finance your dreams instead of the car industry. Maybe. Try it.

We find negligence at work quite often, in many fields. Nevertheless, medical negligence cannot be allowed at any cost as it can cause great harm to people. My uncle had back pain problems for about a year. When he consulted the doctors they advised him to undergo a surgery on his spinal cord. They assured him that he would be alright soon after the surgery. He therefore underwent the surgery but post-surgery period he developed some complications. His legs were not under his control. He could not walk properly. He began to think that he was much better off before the surgery. Then he consulted another orthopaedic surgeon who confirmed the wrong treatment given by the previous doctor. My uncle had to undergo another surgery that turned out to be a success. This time he was able to walk much better than before. However, he could not get back his normal walk even after the second surgery. He lost a lot of money and time due to the medical negligence of the doctor. He feels that he is still a handicapped person, even after the second surgery. Doctors should take surgery seriously and see that they render quality treatment to their patients.
